KANSAS COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE

VOLLEYBALL ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS.

LINDSBORG, KS -- The 1999 All-Conference volleyball team and honor list of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference have been named by the nine head coaches.

The KCAC Player-of-the-Year is Trisha Clark of Bethel College. KCAC Freshman-of-the-Year is Lesley McCarty of Southwestern College. The KCAC Coach-of-the-Year is Bev Mayer of Bethel College.

The Bethel College Threshers are the regular-season champion of the KCAC, as well as the KCAC Post-season Tournament champions. The KCAC post-season tournament champion is the representative of the conference to NAIA Region IV playoffs.

Five players were named unanimously to the All-KCAC first-team. The complete All-KCAC teams in volleyball are:

Based on records and head-to-head tie-breakers, the tournament seeds were: #1 Bethel College. #2 Bethany College. #3 Sterling College. #4 Ottawa University. #5 Tabor College. #6 Kansas Wesleyan University. The two top seeded teams received byes for the first-round. In the two Wednesday (November 10) first-round matches, both at 7 p.m., #4 Ottawa defeated #5 Tabor College 15-3, 15-2,10-15, 15-4; and #6 Kansas Wesleyan University defeated #3 Sterling College 13-15, 14-16, 15-5, 15-8, 16-14. On Saturday (November 13) in North Newton on campus of Bethel College in the afternoon semi-finals, Bethany def. KWU 15-10, 15-10, 15-2; and Bethel def. Ottawa 15-4, 15-11, 15-6.

In the evening tournament championship match Bethel def. Bethany 12-15, 15-12, 15-12, 15-12.

Bethel as the KCAC tourney winner will advance to the NAIA Region IV playoffs tournament at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, on November 18-20. The regional winner will advance to the 20th annual NAIA national championships tournament December 1-4 at Fresno Pacific University in Fresno, California.
